GS80 upgrade options

This is a bit of a general Alpha hardware question, but as the experts are
here along with the experience in how changes affect performance ...

In response to user complaints and somewhat increased load from new versions
of the applications running on the system, management is finally agreeing
that maybe increasing the system sizing is better than complaining and not
providing the resources to fix things. In any case - I have a pair of GS80s
clustered for redundancy. Both are sized the same - 4x21264A 731Mhz, 6G memory
on 3 base modules.

A couple of questions:
With 3 base modules for memory, I believe that leaves the systems at 4-way
interleaving - while 2 modules would be 8-way, but less memory. How much of
a gain would I see from adding a 4th module? Any actual benchmarks or
annecdotal remarks? The application is a database doing a mix of OLTP and
batch processing.

Is it possible to replace the 731Mhz CPUs with the 1224Mhz models without other
changes to the system? If so, would there be more benefit in upgrading the
speed of the 4 CPUs or adding 4 more of the 731Mhz ones? (Consider software
that's licensed per CPU -- 4 more would be a fairly large bump in price -- gotta
love Oracle)

Thanks,
-Charlie
