Dear Managers,
the reported problem with Java applications was not caused
by patch kit 4.
The reason was a variable in our environment
PTHREAD_CONFIG=feature=def-scs,att-scs
export PTHREAD_CONFIG
Because we have big performance problems, Sybase engineering
instructed us to set this variable.
Sybase performance problems did not disappear,
but we forgot to remove the variable.
>From the list i got two answers pointing me to the patch kit release notes.
If you set the new tunable vm:executable_data to a nonzero value,
you have to executute /usr/sbin/javaexecutedata, otherwise you will
have java problems. This was not the problem, because we left
vm:executable_data = 0.
The new tunable vm:executable_data has been introduced before patch kit 4.
