Dear All,
Thanks go to Alaric Turner, Nikola Milutinovic and the good doctor Thomas
Blinn for their replies.
No authoritative answer, but their replies were along the lines of "suck
it and see", and that the checks in the installation script (a .scp file)
are more trustworthy than the documentation. They also reported that
earlier versions worked fine (which I knew already).
So I went ahead and installed it and it executed my noddy Java programs
without fuss. So far so good...
