Numerical Recipes in C

Hello managers

Does anybody have any experience of installing the famous Numerical Recipes
in C on a Tru64? I get:

#/usr/local/bin/gnumake

[snip many lines]
.
.
.
wwghts.o
zbrac.o
zbrak.o
zbrent.o
zrhqr.o
zriddr.o
zroots.o
cp badluk fredex sfroid sphfpt sphoot ../bin
usage: cp [-fhip] [--] source_file destination_file
    or: cp [-fhip] [--] source_file ... destination_directory
    or: cp [-fhip] [-R | -r] [--]
                   [source_file | source_directory] ... destination_directory
*** Exit 1
Stop.
gnumake: *** [install] Error 1

Despite this crash, when I look in my lib ....

#ls -lt /usr/local/lib | more
total 89246
-rw-r--r-- 1 root users 1572404 Jun 18 12:19 librecipes_c.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root users 970196 Jun 18 12:19 librecipes_ckr.a
-rw-r--r-- 1 root users 964352 Jun 18 12:19 librecipes_f.a

The libraries seem to be there. Has this installed sufficiently well to
use? Why the odd cp syntax at the end of the make? I've tried tracing the
source of this in the various Makefiles but haven't found it yet (there are
several makefiles in several sub-directories). I find it difficult to
believe that "cp badluk fredex sfroid sphfpt sphoot ../bin" would work on
any flavour of Unix.

Any ideas or recollections of previous experience with Num.Rec. in C
greatly appreciated
Cheers
Derek
