Boot problem after upgrading to TRU64 5.1B

Dear managers,

After upgrading from version 5.1 PK6 to 5.1B we had the problem that we
could not boot from /vmunix.
Booting from genvmunix was no problem.

We also could build successfully a new kernel, but after moving it to
/vmunix and trying to boot from it, it went wrong.
( see below)
As a test I copied /vmunix to /andre ( booted from genvmunix) and tried to
boot from /andre and to my surprise the system came up with no problems.
Does anyone have an idea why booting from /vmunix does not work ?

The upgrade path: 4.0G PK3 -> 5.1 -> 5.1 PK6 -> 5.1B
