DS10 AlphaServer does not come up

Greetings Managers,

I was wondering if I would be able to get some information in regards
to DS10 Alpha diagnostic BEEPING sounds and flashing LEDs on power up...

I have this DS10 AlphaServer that is beeping and flashing its LEDs when
the power switch is turned on. The power supply comes on, the fans kick
in but nothing whatsoever comes up on the screen or the serial console.
The sequence of events is as described bellow:

1) Power switch turned ON
2) Power LED (Green) comes on (as expected). All fans start spinning.
3) During the same time the Hard Disk LED (Green) comes on for 5 seconds
and then disappears (this LED never used to come on at the start). By
the way there is no Hard disk in the machine in the first place (to add
more mystery to the problem)
4) The Environmental LED (amber) Flashes TWICE (a good machine should
have this LED flash 4 times as all my other good DS10s do at start up)
then goes off (as expected)
5) This is followed by 6 consecutive beeps
6) The Environmental LED comes ON permanently this time after the last
beep (6th one) had sounded.

Neither console nor graphics output can be seen. I had then decided to
strip the machine completely from any PCI cards (thinking maybe one of
the cards was stuffed), also the hard disk and floppy disk...still the
same beeping and LED activities...

Yesterday after turning the machine off and on for 10 X times, I was
able eventually to get the machine to come up to the console level (the
HD LED still came on which as you know it shouldn't, the env LED flashed
twice which in a good machine it should be 4 times however the machine
did NOT beep), but after a few mintues the console froze and I couldn't
type or CTRL-C at all so I had to switch it off again and when I tried
to turn it on, the same beeping and LED flashing started once again and
the machine hasn't come up since yesterday.

What is the explanation of those beeps and the sequence of LEDs
activities and why did the machine work again yesterday but forze after
few mintues and now it doesn't work again ?

I appreciate your help and any light of information you can shed on this
problem. Thank you very much.

Regards,
Alen
