SUMMARY: Can I install a 36.4GB disk in a DS20 ?

Originally I had a DS20 which has a 7 device internal
storageworks with a KZPAC-CA raid controller
supporting 9+9GB RAID 0 and 4,18 and 18GB JBOD disk
drives via a splitter-kit to two channels (of 3) and a
KZPCM-DX adapter supporting just the cd and network.

Unfortunately the KZPAC has a drive size limit of 18GB
JBOD max.(or raid combos to approx 32GB) and I wanted
to install a 36GB disk drive.

So I switched one of the channels to the raid
controller over to the KZPCM and rearranged the disks
so I had 9+9 raid 0 and the 4 to the KZPAC and 18,18
and 36 to the KZPCM. All good at POO>>> as the
firmware could "see" the new device BUT the DS20 would
not recognise the 36GB drive on boot.

After helpful advice from Dr Thomas Blinn on the
vagaries of storage, cables and adapters I removed the
two 18's and booted with just the 36 on the KZPCM and
voila - the system could finally see the drive. I
configured the drive right up to mount to be sure,
shutdown again -h, reinstalled the 18s and rebooted
and suprisingly NOW the system would see all the
devices.

So thanks to everyone for the help on troubleshooting.
The KZPCM can indeed support a 36Gb disk on a DS20 !.
