Original question was:

Please help me find out what patch kit level my Alpha GS60e's are on, and
also I need to know how to get to level 6?

Answers:

To find the patch kit level look at the first digit before the hypen.

Also, there's a log dir in /var/adm/patch/log. check the session.log files and
you will find the info on which patchkit is loaded.

To load patches follow these steps:

To get to PK 6 you (register to become a member and) download the relevant PK from itrc.hp.com. Then you
use dupatch to install the kit (see the System Administrators guide, available online.

I even received a complete set of instructions from John Lanier (THANKS!) listed below.

NOTE: I am assuming that this is a standalone system and not a cluster;
the procedure below is totaly different from a cluster patch upgrade:

1. First you need to download pk#6 (See attachment for where to get it).
2. Untar the kit to a directory with sufficient space
3. cd to the patch_kit directory
4. Run the dupatch utility (./dupatch)
5. I would recommend the "preinstall check" before actually installing patches
6. I would also recommend installing pk#6 in single-user mode (there is an option
for this); that way the system won't be impacted for whatever reason.

Thanks,
