We are having some performance issues running 4 oracle instances on an ES40
with 4 cpus, 14GB memory, and 28GB swap. We are running on V5.1A patchkit
5.
I have read the document for configuring 9i oracle for optimal performance
and modified some of the parameters based on the recommendations in the
document. When we initially boot the system, the performance seems to be
great. After a period of time, from hours to a couple of days, our
performance slowly degrades. I rebooted the system this morning and
initially the system started using 11GB of active memory. After a couple of
hours, it slowly started swapping. The active memory has decreased to 6GB
and inactive memory is 6GB. Currently, the swap usage is 103473 pages and
is continuing to increase.

It almost seems as if I have a memory leak. Does anyone have any
recommendations for improving the performance or have something else that I
can look at? I have been using vmubc and collect to gather information but
I have been unable to determine the best course of action.
