dynamic device recognition

Good Afternoon,

We're connecting our tru64 alpha es40s to an IBM Shark SAN.

After finally getting the HBA cards working, visible, and logged into the
SAN, and the LUN defined on the SAN, we must now reboot the es40 for it to
"see" the san's disk drive. A tape drive is also configured for the SAN.
Someone mentioned to me that they heard a rumor somewhere that there might be
software that allows the system to recognize dynamically added devices
without needing a reboot? I'm not aware of any, but if there is, I'd love
to know about it...

Anyone?
