Hi All,

Thank you very much for all your responses especially to Dr Thomas.Blinn & Chris Ruhnke who instructed me to solve the problem. Here quoted Tom's solution for your reference:

(as root)

rm -rf /usr/sys/HOSTNAME (get rid of the old build directory)
rm /usr/sys/conf/HOSTNAME (and the old config file)

doconfig (with no arguments)

(edit the file if you need to)

then boot the new kernel.

Thanks,

KYLAM

Hi Managers,

I've backup all the files from Alphaserver DS20E and restore the whole image to A1000. After reconfiguring the hardware dependent files (e.g. /etc/dec_*, sysconfigtab) and rebuilding the kernel. (I've typed dn_setup -init, dsfmgr -K, dsfmgr -V -F -v)

The system can't be booted with following messages: (copy from screen)
=======================================================================
panic (CPU0): configure_platform not implemented on this platform
DUMP : Will attempt to compress 25600000 bytes of dump
     : into 473079792 bytes of memory
DUMP : Dump to 0x200005. .. : End 0x20005
succeeded
CP - SAVE_TERM routine to be called
CP - SAVE_TERM exited with hlt_req =1, r0=00000000, 00000000
halted CPU0
halt code=5
HALT instruction executed
PC=fffffc00005e9500

I've rebuild the kernel for 3 times already...
Could you please give me more hints on it?? Thanks.

Regards,

KYLAM
