max alias entries in a host file V4.0f

Hello All,

Is there a limit to the number of aliases allowed in host file - I seem
to have a hit a limit of 34 - is this a configurable parameter ?

eg

/etc/hosts

10.x.x.x servername alias1 alias2 ............ alias34 alias35

I can ping from alias1 to 34 but not alias35

any ideas
