FTP Problem

Dear All,
I posted the earlier about FTP problem through encrypted WAN link. We sniffed the traffic
going through network, and found that connection was being reset by peer. Also at frame
level in ICMP header we see "don't fragment". We are running DU 4.0G and Gigabit ethernet
interface is configured with MTU size 1500(default). Will reducing MTU size solve the
problem?
Is there a way to send frames without "don't fragment" flag? What will be the
implications if we do so?

Thanks

We are a bank and running oracle under Trucluster environment. Our WAN connection with
branches had been built around Cisco routers. Application used to call FTP to all
branches to send files before start of day. It worked perfectly ok for years.

Sometime back we upgraded the routers and configurred the encryption on the WAN links.
Now very frequently FTP to some branches fail. If we do FTP one by one then we have no
problem. Has anyone ever had this kind of situation? If yes, what was the remedy? Please
share with us.
