System clock time wrong after powerdown

  Hi Folks,

   I had to shutdown a DS20 (Tru64 4.0F, firmware 6.0-8) last
Friday. I powered it up again on Monday - some 87 hours
later. The bootup time was shown as just over 12 hours from
the shutdown time. In other words the system clock was about
a day and a half slow.

I reset the date/time and rebooted and it's ok now.

Could this be a battery problem on the motherboard? If so, I
presume if I power off again it will return to the past? Or
 could it be anything else?

   TIA

  Lindsay
