SUMMARY: SSH 3.2 kit gone?

The download of the SSH 3.2.2 kit from HP is still not available. I received
some replies, apparently from HP, but there is of course no guarantee
regarding the true source here.

The answers mentioned problems with export restrictions, proxy problems,
problems with web staff and web design. It seems that the unavailability of
the kit is not due to problems with the kit installation or the product
itself, but... I also received some messages that the open-source
distribution of SSH would work with Tru64 enhanced security.

I've used OpenSSH 3.5p1 under Tru64 5.1 pk5 before and can only confirm that
it was necessary to exclude certain features since they were not compatible
with Tru64 enhanced security. It depends which OS version you are using, but
you can find plenty of messages on this mailing-list outlining the problems
and workarounds. There is also a newer version of SSH available at
openssh.org., which might have addressed some of the issues.

Apparently the kit provided by HP is their own compilation which is not
open-source, but it requires Tru64 version 5.1A. Anyway, I would imagine the
kit from HP might have some advantages regarding its installation, software
dependencies and updates. With all the security alerts for OpenSSH flying
around, some non open-source SSH may give some advantage these days, but I
could be wrong.

At this point I don't know what the real story is, so I guess my best bet is
to sort it out with our local HP service.

Thanks to everyone who responded, and best regards,

Markus Waldorf
