v5.1 sendmail patch

Hi All,
I've just installed the latest V5.1 sendmail patch to fix the
buffer-overrun vulnerability, but my sendmail still reports
that it is version 8.9.3. The sendmail version which is
supposed to have this bug fixed is 8.12.8. Am I really safe?
