On 4.0e,
running adduser gets to
'Adding new user...'
then says the password and group files are currently locked by another
user.
I've just rebooted the box and still get it.
I don't see any locked files in /etc.
Any ideas on where to check?
If I run dxaccounts, I can add a user just file.
