tape drive/changer problem

I hope somebody's awake...

I've got a TL891 tape library with 2 DLT8000 drives in it.
It's connected to my systems via an MDR-80 that is connected to
a StorageWorks fiber switch. One of the drives and the robot have
disappeared.

I've had the library and the MDR-80 power cycled at this point.
hwmgr -scan scsi still isn't finding them on any of the systems.
I believe that the robot and that tape drive are on the same channel
coming off of the MDR-80 and the drive that is still visible is on
the other channel.

Ok. as I'm typing this, the missing drive seems to have returned, but
not the changer -- any suggestions on what can be tried to get this back
working?

if it helps, here's what 'hwmgr -show scsi' gives me for the relevant devices
on each of the 2 members of my cluster:
  179: 25 oraproddb tape none 0 1 tape0 [3/0/1]
  180: 26 oraproddb tape none 4 1 tape1 [3/0/2]
  181: 27 oraproddb changer none 3 1 mc0

----
  179: 20 oraprodcm tape none 0 1 tape0 [2/0/1]
  180: 21 oraprodcm tape none 0 1 tape1 [2/0/2]
  181: 22 oraprodcm changer none 0 1 (null)
----
I'm fairly certain that changer is [3/0/3] or [2/0/3] depending on the member.
The second of those members has been rebooted (hoping it might have fixed
some things after resetting other components failed even though I hate
doing that).
thanks for any answers -- especially ones recieved before i call it quits
for the night...
