Not really a definite answer as what to do, just people experiencing similar
problems and suggestions as to what may be going on.

Digital/Compaq/HP field service, I have learned that replacement parts are
not always "new." Whenever a part fails, it is returned to some engineering
group that tests/repairs the part. Sometimes the returned part was not bad
in the first place; some other failed part might have been the actual
culprit. If that engineering group certifies that the part now works, and
hopefully they have strong magic to determine this, then the part goes into
the pool of replacements that is available for new service calls. While my
experience has been that this mostly works just fine, there have been a very
few times that we have had bad replacement parts. I suspect/speculate that
if the failure mode is obscure enough from their point of view, then they
aren't going to do enough testing to discover the failure and also that when
they get the part for testing that they aren't given any/enough history
about why it was pulled in the first place."

I guess the only answer is to keep on replacing the parts until I get one
that has had enough "magic" worked on it!!!!

Hi All,

I have a problem with my KZPCC controller. About 2 weeks ago I had to have
the whole unit replaced, which went fine, but since then I have noticed that
the battery state is being reported as "bad" when looking through
StorageWorks Command Console (v2.2.0.213). This was after it went through
the initial calibration phase. I reported this to Compaq (HP) who sent an
engineer and he replaced the battery. Again after the initial period of
trying to calibrate the battery it is being reported as being "bad" again.

Now I can't really believe that 2 batteries, the new one when the card was
replaced and the new one from the engineer, can both be "bad". Other
details of the card are

Firmware revision: CQ16
Hardware revision: KZPCC-CE rev.D01
Bios Revision: 1.2H

Is there a command I have missed which effectively resets the state of the
battery as it might not have recognised that it has been replaced, or is
this a known problem, has anyone else come across this before or got any
suggestions?
