Compiling Apache 1.3.26

Hi SAs,

I am trying to compile a new version of apache on our OSF1 V5.1. I
tried first configuring for the target installation, but when that
didn't work I have tried both:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache_1.3.26
 - and -
./configure

I have used both cc and gcc (version 2.95.2 19991024). The result is
always the same. Configure works fine, but the make chokes the same way
every time. I can't find anything out on apache.org and it compiles
fine on my Linux boxes.

========================================
(compiles a bunch of files and enters src/ap, compiles 11 files and
then:)

gcc -c -I../os/unix -I../include -DOSF1 -DUSE_HSREGEX -DNO_DL_NEEDED
`../apaci` ap_ebcdic.c
mips-tfile, /tmp/cci0UdfF.s:7 Segmentation fault
line: .file 1 "ap_ebcdic.c"

*** Exit 1
=========================================

There is no core file.

Any thoughts? (I am concurrently downloading a new gcc.)

Thanks in advance.
