hello true managers:
the problem was a mix
the configuration on the controller was an old one
that needed to be "overwritten" ( option -o of the
configuration utility) and also failed disks.
once the controller configuration was updated, the
drive initialize process failed because of dead
drives.
once the dead drives were replaced and the controllerr
configuration was the proper one, everything was ok,
as usual with these good boxes.

i tried installing 2 new controllers but the error is
the same. the
box "boot" the standalone configuration utility but
the actions ( ie
initialize drives) fail displaying "READ WRITE ERROR"
any help/idea will be appreciated. thanks in advance
