Tru64 Managers,

I'm trying to reinstall the "emacs" editor and not having much luck.

I downloaded the package and installation script, copied to /tmp/RPM, but
the installation fails without really providing an error message.

It just says:
        error: /tmp/RPM/emacs-20.7-4.alpha.rpm cannot be installed

I'm not an expert on "RPM" but did read through the script and got to the
main command:

        /usr/local/bin/rpm -Uv $depsflag
$kit_location/emacs-20.7-4.alpha.rpm

If I try this command (and add -vv) for "very verbose" I still don't get a
useful error message.

# rpm -U -vv /tmp/RPM/emacs-20.7-4.alpha.rpm

Please suggest any steps I can take to either fix the RPM installation, or
somehow else reinstall Emacs.
(I have just downloaded a full emacs kit from gnu and may try to build that
package.)

Thanks,

Robert Aldridge
