Hi,
I have to create a 2 node cluster of DS20E, running
5.1A.
I have 2 BA356 arrays, and both of them have 6 disks
each.
In one of the BA356, i have 3 disks from digital,
which do not have the unique WWID,so i am able to see
only four disks from that array( three new disks which
have unique wwid and one out of three which have no
wwid).
when i run hwmgr sho scsi -full, i see following
result
        SCSI DEVICE DEVICE DRIVER
NUM DEVICE FIRST
 HWID: DEVICEID HOSTNAME TYPE SUBTYPE OWNER
PATH FILE VALID PATH
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
  133: 9 sdp1 disk none 0 3
   dsk6

      WWID:0c000008:0000-00ff-fe00-0000

      BUS TARGET LUN PATH STATE
      ------------------------------
      1 0 0 vaild
      1 1 0 valid
      1 2 0 valid
If you see it shows me all three disks under one
name.After going through the documents, i realised
that i have to uodate the /etc/ddr.dbase file for
following entry:

SCSIDEVICE
    # DISABLE PRs for all COMPAQ DISKS UNTIL SPEC
SETTLES OUT
    Type = disk
    Name = "COMPAQ"
    #
    ATTRIBUTE:
        AttributeName = "VPDinfo"
        Length = 16
        ubyte[1] = 1
        ubyte[5] = 15
  Which will eliminate the serial number and append
the d/b/t/l, in the wwid,
and run:
 ddr_config -c /etc/ddr.dbase
 hwmgr scan scsi
and it will show me all the devices seperately.
Yes it does work, but my questions is, this method is
not recommended for shared devices??
is it true???
If yes then what should i do to get new devices in my
hwmgr database for shared devices???

Thanks
Jay
