Rebuilding system disk. Any "gotchas?"

Last weekend the boot disk on my Tru64 v5.1A (DS10) system died. This
system contained two disks and all file systems were AdvFS. It was running
with enhanced security and had patch kit #2 installed (and a few post PK2
patches as well).

The first disk (the one that failed) contained the root domain and the
"user domain" with a file set for /usr and a separate file set for
/usr/local. The second disk (the one that apparently still works) contains
the "var domain" with a file set for /var and the "home domain" with a
file set for /home and also a cloned /home file set as well. The /tmp
directory is a symbolic link into the /var hierarchy.

I'm not exactly sure of the best way to go about rebuilding this system.
I have a reasonably recent backup of everything... about a week old (made
with vdump). Clearly I'd like to retain all the data on the second disk
if possible. Do I need to re-install the system on the first disk before
attempting to restore? If so, should I expect any problems when I restore
a patched version of the system on top of the original version? Will I
have problems restoring an enhanced security system on top of a standard
security system?

I'm guessing that I'll at least need to rebuild the file domains and file
sets first. Do I need to do anything special to get the "new" system to
properly recognize the existing file domains and file sets on the second
disk?

I can probably muddle my way through this, but I'm hoping that the
collective wisdom of this list can help me avoid doing anything really
stupid.
