Original question:
We have an ES45 & a DS20. I would like to make a test, to boot the ES45 disks from DS20. Is it possible? Reconfiguring the kernel is necessary? Will the device names changed? Can it boot the /vmunix? Or only the /genvmunix? After I done this will I be able to boot from ES45 again(without any changes in LSM for example?)
The details:
ES45 Model 2
4 x 1 GHz CPU
8 GB RAM
2 x KGPSA-CA
DEGPA-SX
700 GB HSG80 disks(HSG80 based stripe + LSM based mirror)

DS20E
2 x 833 MHz CPU
4 GB RAM
2 x KGPSA-CA
DEGPA-SX

Ps.: I would like to do this only if the ES45 will die. But I would like to know what is possible & what is impossible.

The answer is:

* rebuild your kernel
* change the rc.config network device name settings(the adapter name will be changed during boot from alt0 -> alt1)

The device names will be changed but LSM can control his database.
