5.1a: cannot delete old tape device

I'm having trouble deleting an old device on 5.1a...

# hwmgr dele comp -id 105
hwmgr: Error (95) Cannot start operation.
# hwmgr dele comp -id 105
hwmgr: Error (95) Cannot start operation.
# hwmgr dele -did 22
hwmgr: Error (95) Cannot start operation.

If it matters, we replaced an FCTC on our SAN and the tape showed up as a new
device (new FCTC WWID) so I used 'dsfmgr -m old tape99; dsfmgr -m new old' so we
can use the same device name/number. I've done these things also but the above
commands yeild the same error:

# dsfmgr -k
# dsfmgr -K
# dsfmgr -D tape99\*
# dsfmgr -R hwid 22
#

This is not urgent but I'd like to be able to clean up these old devices.

Thanks for any tips/pointers.

P.S. - Here's some other possibly pertinent info on the devices...
