An old problem still hunting me:
Cant write to an AIT drive of the type shown in Subject:
Output from file-command:
-/dev/ntape/tape0_d0: character special (19/87) SCSI #2 "SDX-300C" tape #2 (SC

Output from mt status, most relevant line (I think, the entire is in the buttom of this mail):
-status 0x3200 Device inoperable (needs initialize)
- flags 0x1000007
- CAM_STATUS SCSI_STATUS SCSI_SENSE CAM_DATA
- cam_status 0x4 CCB request completed with an err
vdump, dd and so on gives [13] Permission denied.
tapex cant write on tapes (new tapes, old tapes, doesnt matter).
Tried C-programs and other stuff also listed in the summaries. Turned machine on/off, resets with scu, still, no response.
