4.0g on DS20e with serial console.

Hi,

This is an update to my 4.0g vs. 4.0f on DS20e question. Many people
replied and told me that 4.0g supports both the DE600 and the Adaptec
on the DS20e. So I went ahead and tried 4.0g on a DS20e today.

I'm working on a serial console on this DS20e and I've installed
all subsets during the installation.

Now, much to my surprise, after building the kernel, the machine won't
boot anymore. It just sits there after the following output on the serial
console:

UNIX boot - Sun May 14 05:34:40 EDT 2000

Loading vmunix ...
Loading at 0xfffffc0000230000

Sizes:
text = 4063632
data = 684464
bss = 1066992
Starting at 0xfffffc000049f970

I have the suspicion that the machine just uses the graphics console after
that point because I can see the harddisk light flickering and the machine
sounds as if it would continue booting.

The same thing happens when booting genvmunix. However, I can still boot
Tru64 4.0f without problems (I got two harddisks there, 4.0f is on dka0
and 4.0g is on dka100).

Any ideas what could be wrong here? I suspect some SRM issue but the SRM
version seems to be quite new:

COMPAQ AlphaServer DS20E 666 MHz Console V6.2-1, Apr 11 2002 11:52:46

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot // Tom
