Hello,

Sorry for the delayed summary, I've been away ill for a while.

Many replies to this question so I won't list everyone. General consensus
was what I had imagined, you can't form a 5.1 single node cluster without a
memory channel card. This is because, on boot the machine tries to
communicate with other cluster members, either over shared scsi or MC, to
verify if a machine has already formed cluster with the quorum disk. As
there is no answer back from the memory channel the server assumes it would
be the least destructive course of action to sit and wait. Jim Lola
expressed it well as

"Unfortunately, in order to create a single node cluster, you will need that
Memory Channel card and either another Cluster node (with a MC card) or a
Memory
Channel Hub. Just the existense of the Memory Channel card alone will not
do it
for you as the cluster goes out and attempts to poll for other cluster
members."

Many people suggested using 5.1A and the ethernet interconnect. This is not
an option as we are in production on 5.1 and therefore need development to
be the same revision.

So, now the decision is, buy more unnecessary equipment or initiate a move
to 5.1A.

Thanks to all who replied.
