The answers to my two questions are:
1. Yes, you can go from 4.0E directly to 4.0G
2. The discrepancy exists because 4.0G came out
*after* 5.0A, so the 5.0A Installation Guide wouldn't
have had knowledge of 4.0G.

I'm running 4.0E and want to get to 5.1A.
The Installation Guide (pg. 2-2) for 5.0A says that 4.0E can *only*
be upgraded to 4.0F, thus making the upgrade path:
4.0E -> 4.0F -> 5.0A -> 5.1A
The Installation Guide (pg. 2-3) for 5.1A says that 4.0E can
be upgraded to 4.0 F *or* 4.0G, thus making the upgrade path:
4.0E -> 4.0G -> 5.1 -> 5.1A
I would rather do the latter due to my availability of CD's.
Can I go directly from 4.0E to 4.0G or not?
Which guide is correct & why the discrepancy?
