heelo,
the cause for my failed network under 5,1a was based
on the pci slot number and the difference between the old and new kernel
configuration.
Under 4.0f, I had a NIC in slot 6 of the es-40 ( last slot)
the kernel was built with this, thus tu0 was in slot6.
A another card was added sometime ago, but no configured under
the old kernel. This NIC was in slot 5
After load 5.1a on as a second boot disk, tu0 became the card in
slot5. I figured this out after I noticed the link light on the second
card.
so as I boot from each OS, I have to move the cable too :-o
thanks to all with the various suggestion, but in the end it came down to
"check the wire, buddy"
thanks again,
Jeff
