White dots on screen

Greetings all -

I have an ALPHAStation 500/333 (running 4.0F) with a ZLXp2-E, Revision: 34
graphics card.

As of last week, there are faint pairs of white small dots running diagonally on
the monitor when the X-server is started (they do not appear on the boot screen)
which leads me to believe that it may be a software/patch problem and not
hardware. Any thoughts?

Has anyone seen similar behavior?
