Hi DU Admins,

Sorry for the late summary - it took me some time to fine a DU V4
distribution for testing.

Thanks to all who respondet: Talawala Murtaza, Rost Werner, Kevin Fleming,
Uwe Lienig, AKA dr. john, Dr. Thomas.Blinn.

In short: I had a problem with a Power Storm 4D20 video card on my PWS 500
au - white screen with black dots.

Dr. Blinn answered that this card is supposed to be supported with Tru64
V5.1A. He further mentioned
that the hardware or the V5.1A driver might by brocken. To find this out he
suggested to install DU V4.0 G
to see if the card is working - and if to upgrade to V5.1A.

It took me some time to find a DU V4, but it was only V4.0B which is not
running in a PWD 500 au. So I
installed the 4D20 card in my old AS 200 and booted the DU V4.0B
installation CD. The console startup in VGA
mode dit well - but as soon as the X-Server started for the setup dialog -
the screen changed to white with some
black dots indicating where the input fields should be.
I assume that this test verified a broken 4D20 video hardware.
I replaced the 4D20 card with a 3DLabs Oxygen VX1 in the PWD 500 au and
have a nice video signal now.

Thanks
Klaus Schneider

My original question:
Good morning to all,

I got a DEC PWS 500au with a Power Storm 4D20 graphics card. I would like
to run
the system with tru64 V5.1A - I could install it - but the video signal
shows a white screen with
some black dots.

I assume this card is no longer supported with tru64 V5.1A, the machine
itself should - according
to the SPD.

Does anybody know about a supported graphics card in that system that is
available on
the second hand marked ?

The list has a lot of information according that machine - but all are
dealing with V4.x and open3d.

Your information is very much appreciated.
