Hi everyone,

I have two "older" servers, an Alpha 1000A 5/400 and an Alpha 800

According to the Alpha Systems Firmware Update V6.1 Release Notes, the 1000A
will upgrade to FW Rev 5.7 and 800 to FW Rev 5.8. If this is true then the
lastest version of tru64 unix I can install is V5.0a on the 1000A and V5.1
on the 800.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I have several DS10s that have tru64 V5.1a installed on them. I wanted to
use the 1000A as my tape restore/backup server, ie. where I restore the disk
image from the DS10 file systems and appications to test them for
functionality and restoration in case one of the DS10 goes down. Is this a
do-able plan or are the 1000A and 800 obsolete, so I have to buy some more
DS10s?

Thanks,

Mike Kirkland
