Thank all of you who replyed with ideas and asistance.
The summary posted here came from Jay Vlack of Compaq ( now part of the new
HP )
No so sure about this new HP stuff, time will tell.

The CA output you posted is not very helpful in determining the cause of the
crash. The crash files in /var/adm/crash are really needed to analyze the
stack trace of the panic CPU on your system. One useful thing in your CA
output is the panic string "panic (cpu 1): dup biodone". I searched our
databases and found a number of cases where ES40 systems running Tru64 UNIX
v4.0F had experienced this type of panic. It appears that some fixes have
been made to the kernel code since then. Since you are running Patch Kit 4,
which is quite old, I would recommend installing Patch Kit 7 which can be
found at the following URL:
ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/Digital_UNIX/v4.0f/duv40fb18as0007-2002
0102.html
<ftp://ftp.service.digital.com/public/Digital_UNIX/v4.0f/duv40fb18as0007-200
20102.html>
I would also check the system firmware revision (>>> show version), and if
it's older than 6.1-3 you should upgrade it using the Alpha Systems Firmware
Update CD v6.1
This is the best recommendation I can make without doing a full crash
analysis on your system's crash dump. I hope this helps.

Kind regards
