NFS problems

Admins,

This weekend we implemented a project where we were using NFS
exporting and mounting to copy files from one server to the other. We had a
few bumps in the road along the way.

        1. The nfsiod and routed daemons died for no apparent reason. I am
curious to try to figure out why. Any ideas as to why these daemons would
die and where they are reported (nothing in daemon.log).

        2. The kernel idle process on the server exporting the file system
was running at 110%+ during this time.

        3. The server (named dollar3) was exporting 2 file systems
read-only. The client system ( called viper ) was mounting these through
dollar3 secondary interface (called dollar4) with this command ( # mount -t
nfs dollar4:/.data_clone /data_clone ) yet it seemed that all the traffic
was going trough the primary interface. How is it I can force the traffic
to go trough the dollar4 interface?

Any ideas, I will summarize.

TIA,
