UPDATE (2): NCD Boot Hangs

Yet another update.
First thanks to Selden Ball, Steve Herber, J Bacher, B
Vickers and Kurt Ludwig for their initial suggestions.

All seem to be suggesting port problems more or less,
and DNS timeouts.

#Declaring variables
tu0 = DEC Tulip (10Mbps), DECchip 21040: Rev. 2.3
tu1 = DEC Tulip (10/100) DECchip 21140 Rev. 2.0

In my territory, i tested changing speed and modes on
the card. Setting speed (of tu1)to 10Mbs, kills the
card altogether, it becomes un-pingable even from same
host thru tu0(dual NICS)
It becomes pingable at speed 100Mbps, either half
duplex or full. But, round trip stats are bad, with an
average of 30ms over 5mins period.

Also, at 100Mbs for tu1, it affects tu0 and makes it
have intermittent connectivity, thus defeating
everything.

At 10Mbps for tu1, it dies (as said b4), but tu0 then
works perfectly!!!
But wait, there is more!!At this point, I cannot ssh
from another host on same subnet, to any other
host.....when tu1 is down....i get errors "host "tu1"
is not responding, still trying. However, i can telnet
into tu0 or telnet into any other host, but not ssh.
Any takers for the ssh problem??

At the mean time, i have to place a call with the
company managing centerwide networks, to try and
figure out the port problems, if any, and dns
timeouts.

_thanks all

Richard
