Hello all,
The docs say that it is possible to configure RAID1+0, but no example of
how to configure is given.
Please let me know if this is correct:
I have two A5000, each has 14 disks, each disk has one big partition.
I created a database replicat, of default size, on each partition, on
all disks.
So, all my slices/partitions are exactly same size.
I first tried building 14 mirrors, each made up of two partitions, one
from each A5000. then I tried to make a stripe made of all the 14
mirrors... SVM said, no no, cannot build stripe out of metadevices!
So, I undid all metadevices and built it this way:
build a stripe with all partitions of one A5000, then a second stripe
with all partitions of the other.
build a two way mirror, using the two stripes...
Now this works, SVM does not complain, but:
-Is this really a RAID1+0?
- Aprat from unplugging disks here and there, is there a way to confirm
this IS is RAID1+0?

Providing RAID 1+0 and RAID 0+1
Solaris Volume Manager supports both RAID 1+0 (which is like having
mirrors that are then striped) and RAID 0+1 (stripes that are then
mirrored) redundancy, depending on the context. The Solaris Volume
Manager interface makes it appear that all RAID 1 devices are strictly
RAID 0+1, but Solaris Volume Manager recognizes the underlying
components and mirrors each individually, when possible.

Note -
Solaris Volume Manager cannot always provide RAID 1+0 functionality.
However, in a best practices environment, where both submirrors are
identical to each other and are made up of disk slices (and not soft
partitions), RAID 1+0 will be possible.
