Pre-partitioned disks?

Greetings! Had a question. Is anyone used to seeing solaris (supposedly
solaris) pre-partition disks?

Reason I ask is that when adding new logical disks to my e4500 from a cx600
(emc product) they are showing up with partitions on them already. 3 sizes
have been tried - 20, 30, 36. All three had this scheme:

Slice 0 128M labeled as /
Slice 1 128M labeled as swap
Slice 2 <whole disk, as should be>
Slice 3-5 blank
Slice 6 <remainder of disk> labeled as /usr
Slice 7 blank

Mind you, this is WITHOUT me labeling the disk. I run format, select the
disk, it tells me its not labeled, ask if I want to label it, I say no, and
the thing is already partitioned. And no, nothing else has ever been there.
The area is always a new area that is just exposed to me by the clairiion
guy. When he exposes areas to a windows box, it doesn't behave like this...

The issue - is it emc's fault, or sun's? Does Sun automatically partition
disks (I have never seen that ever, yet I was told by the emc guy that was
the case) or is emc's stuff just behaving oddly? I'm mostly just interested
in knowing if anyone has experience with clairiion/cx600's to a sun host, or
has ever seen a non-labeled disk get pre-partitioned by solaris. Thanks
much.
