how to add a SDLT tape drive to solaris 9 - what is highest block ing factor for ufsdump?

I have a sunfire v120 loaded with solaris 9. I am attaching a HP SDLT drive
to it. I did a ./reconfigure and rebooted the system. At the boot prompt, I
did a probe-scsi-all and the box sees the tape drive ok.

I can use the tape drive ok, but I did not see any mention of a SDLT drive
in the /kernel/drv/st.conf file. Does solaris 9 recognize the tape as a SDLT
or DLT 8000 tape drive?

Also I noticed that the backup time on a 5 gig partition took about 25
minutes when using the defaults ufsdump command of - # ufsdump 0 /data1

ufsdump uses a default blocking factor of 32, is this the highest blocking
factor available in solaris 9, if not what is the largest blocking factor
solaris 9 ufsdump will support?

>From your experiences what is the fastest way to dump a partition to tape??
Ufsdump, tar, cpio, pax, or dd or some combo??

Please give an example of how you make a fast backup.

Thanks,

Mike
