My /var files system went from 49% full to 100% full
in one week. I have been trying to figure this out.
I have issued the du -sk command on the /var directory
and on every subdirectory. What I found is that
/var/tmp is 90% of the total /var space. So I sorted
the files by size and here is what I get.

The Sys Admin Guide Volume 1, chapter 40 UFS File
System Reference indicates that /var/tmp is a
Directory for temporary files; not cleared during boot
sequence.
So what can I do? Can I delete any of these files? A
reboot will not correct the problem. The system has
been up and running for years without this problem, no
system changes have occurred lately as I am hoping to
migrate the data to a new server soon. The os is
Solaris 2.6. Any help would be appreciated.
