Hi Everyone,
I have two E450s that are directly connected via a fiber GIGE
connection. The data directory on one is nfs mounted on the othe. The
user of the client wants to copy some data from the mount to a partition
on his box. It's taking approximately 1.5 minutes to cp a 150MG file in
this manner.
The weird statistics from nfsstat are:
client nfs: Version 2: getattr 99%
client nfs_acl: Version 2: getattr 100% & Version 3: getacl 100%.
I know that with a getattr that high you're supposed to "increase the
actimeo." But what should it be increased to?
Also, what does getacl indicate? I can't find any info on it. Should I
be doing something to make it less high?
More importantly, am I just chasing vapor here? Should I expect better
from NFS? If so, how do I get it to live up to its potential?
I played with the nfs kernel parameters in /etc/system, and I didn't get
any results. But I wasn't exactly making educated modifications.
Any insight would be appreciated.
Jenn
