Getting system log messages on a E 220 R, Sendmail: Unable to save rejected
mail anywhere, savemail panic.
Solaris 8, Version 8.11.6+Sun/8.9.3, . sendmail is using DNS. Problem has
begun after installing 110615-05 patch and restoring the old config file.
Mail queue is accumulating fast. Recomplied aliases several times. Get a
waring that .cf file is out of date: sendmail 8.11.6+Sun supports version 9,
.cf file is version 8
/var/tmp/dead.letter permissions are 660 (owner root, group mail). When i
deliberately give wrong address and try to interrupt the mail message while
sending from command line, none of these save it dead.letter in user home
directories.
Looked into archives, O'Reilly sendmail book for further instrcution, no
luck yet. In mail queues, qf files are being saved as Qf for some.
Local mail to 'root' says it is unknown or illegal alias. But mail is going
outside.
The problem is probably it's due to aliases, but how to fix??
Aliases have following entries.
Postmaster: root
MAILER-DAEMON: postmaster
