Hello,
I have just installed Solaris 9 onto my Ultra 1, but i'm having the same
trouble i was having before when i put Solaris 8 on there... i can't get
it onto the internet!
You can see the network map here:
http://fishsponge.co.uk/miscfiles/networkMap.gif
The machine in question is "eMonster" (192.168.254.100).
It will recognise every machine on my LAN ok, and i can get everything
else working internally, but i can't get it to work past my router!
Here are the necessary parts of files that should make the difference:
-------------------------
/etc/nsswitch.conf:
-------------------------
hosts: nis [NOTFOUND=return] files dns
-------------------------
/etc/defaultrouter:
-------------------------
192.168.254.254
-------------------------
/etc/resolv.conf:
-------------------------
nameserver 192.168.254.254
but.....
bash-2.05# ping unixforum.co.uk
ping: unknown host unixforum.co.uk
bash-2.05#
Help!!
This has also been posted here, if you wish to reply for the world to see:

Thanks,
Richard.
