Hello All
i have few doubts regarding the licensing of Sun
Solaris & Iplanet Messaging server & LDAP server , The
doubts are mentioned bellow step by step.
1) Sun Claims that the 200,000 User License is Free
for SUN LDAP server (i think it's same one known as
Iplanet LDAP/Directory server) with the latest version
of solaris OS is this true ????? does it mean that
i can create upto 200,000 entry in ldap and use it
along with the different applications ( like
mail/radius authentication etc )
2) I have 2000 User Licensing for Iplanet Messaging
server , now the iplanet ldap also comes with the
messaging server, so when i have license for iplanet
messaging server for 2000 users i am authorized to use
it & create 2000 user entry in the LDAP, correct
????????????? pls comment on this
3) I also have 2000 user (entry) License for Iplanet
Directory server in addition to the messaging server
license for 2000 Mailbox ,
so , this actually means that i can create total of
4000 entries in my iplanet directory server
That is 2000/- entry for mail users bcoz i have
purchased license for it and other 2000 entry for
the actual license which i have purchased for my
directory server.
4) if i run the iplanet in master slave mode do i have
to purchase saperate licensing for all the slave
servers or i can ru unlimited no of slaves for
specific master.( all of my slave server are not going
to act as a master for anyother server)
now as all of us knows iplanet stores all the config
in the directory tree, now are those ldap entries also
considered while taking in to account the licenses
????????????
actually i have asked the local vendor who deals in
these products but he told me that the free 200,000
entry LDAP licensing is for stand alon ldap server
only and i can create those entry but can not use with
other applications , which seems use less & very
wiered , i dont trust that guy who told me so kindly
let me know.
