Spac Level Justification

Dear Gurus and Gurettes,

I have a new CIO that is pressuring me to justify why we should stay with
our SPARCII technology that was bought on the gray market at a fraction of
the cost of buying the same gear new less than a year ago. Now they want me
to do the same thing with SPARCIII technology. The vendor I used for my
last growth spurt was terrific and they seem to be offering me the same
great opportunities, but even though I have been given a budget I want to be
sure this is the best step. I have other areas that I feel would benefit
more from the extra dollars. SPARCII is more than sufficient for what we
are doing at the present. Has anyone ran into this problem? How do you
convince a new CIO that the gray market is the right way to go and that
there in no reason to be cutting edge when our industry does not require
that...All help would be much appreciated.
