Background: Solaris 8 2/02 on Sun Fire 4800
I installed a GCC package from sunfreeware.com but realized I hadn;t used an
admin file to install it somewhere other than the default location. So I used
pkgrm to remove it and I got the following:
torch: /data/software/installed$ pkgrm SMCgcc
The following package is currently installed:
SMCgcc gcc
(sparc) 2.95.3
Do you want to remove this package? y
WARNING: Stale lock installed for pkgrm, pkg SMCgcc quit in initial state.

pkgrm: ERROR: bad read of contents file
pkgrm: ERROR: pathname=/usr/demo/JAVA1.2/demo/jfc/Notepad/README.txt
pkgrm: ERROR: problem=unable to read content info
1) That file is there and not corrupted
2) It doesn't have anything to do with GCC and wasn't installed by the GCC
package.
Any thoughts?
