Hi,

i am faced with a sendmail perfomance tuning task and have recently posted
my questions here about optimizations.
Now as i had the chance to have two E420R for myself i installed Sol8 on one
and Sol9 on the other. With a specific setup and a specific java test
program i was able to measure "mail"-send-performance and my results were
that Sol8 with Sendmail 8.11.6 (~7 large eMails/sec) was about half as
"fast" as Sol9 with 8.12.2 (~13 large eMails/sec). This is in "Queue-Only"
Mode with the Queue on TmpFS (so i am measuring: how fast can a single
threaded program inject emails = spam'er ;-). Can anybody judge from these
few details if the performance could really come from new software (sol:
scheduler, faster forks, faster tmpfs; sendmail: faster, better ipc through
shared memory) or does this sound impossible and i should look further for
any mistakes i made?

Cheers,
Mat.
