df and du output are different

Dear Sun Managers,

I've a Solaris machine. There is a mismatch on df and
du reporting output for /var file system used
capacity.

df -k reported /var used 3134883K of disk space.
However, I sum up the output of du -sk * for /var, it
reported only 371170 is used up.

Why is there such a big difference between this 2
output and what could be the problem?
