Setting up Virtual IP's

Env: Solaris 8 on E3000

I am having some issues with setting up my virtual IP's.

I do the following and can get my two solaris 8 servers talking to each other with the new IP address, but nothing else will communicate with the new ip. These two servers reside in our dmz.

here is what i did:

ifconfig hme0:1 plumb
ifconfig hme0:1 x.x.x.x netmask x.x.x.x broadcast x.x.x.x (matches current ip address of hme0
ifconfig hme0:1 up

at that point i can ping and telnet to the new address from another Sun box
but no where else.

Any thoughts.

Thanks.
